PRIDE & HERITAGE

THE FARM

We are proud of our history and of having kept alive and developed the family business that Heidi´s grandparents established back in 1949. The legacy from the past, when Selma and Jens were the proprietors of a guesthouse (Hoff Pensjonat) and a petrol station.

Ecotourism

We believe travelling in a more sustainable way is the future of tourism. At Flatheim we are serious about taking care of the environment, and in January 2020 we became the first ecotourism destination in Vestland county. We offer sustainable products to our guests and are a certified Norwegian ecotourism business.

The hosts

Heidi Vallestad & Sigurd Årskaug makes you feel welcome at Flatheim. Heidi grew up on the farm, while Sigurd grew up in a neighbouring village. Since 2005, we have anew been welcoming guests at the farm under the name Flatheim, which is also the name of the farm.

Generations

The farm Flatheim dates back to 1949 when it became an independent farm. From the beginning Flatheim has combined tourism and commerce with traditional farming. Today Flatheim is owned by third generation proprietors.

A shop and a petrol station

The small petrol station which was built in 1963 has been restored. Here our guests and visitors can purchase unique interior design objects, local products, ice cream and coffee.

The flower garden

We are proud of our garden. The garden was the creation of Heidi´s grandmother and consists of a mixture of crops and ornamental plants. The garden offers a variety of places to sit down and enjoy a café latte, or perhaps relax with a good book. You can find freshly cut flowers “everywhere” in our houses – and sometimes as decoration on a cake or a dessert.

The nostalgic basements floor

At Flatheim we love vintage objects and stories from the past. In the basement of the main building you can find a selection of old and slightly newer objects on display that can take you down memory lane.

The summer café

In the summer we invite local villagers and tourists to our summer café. We serve tasty homemade bread and pastries and love a lively atmosphere in the farmyard.

The Hot tub

The wood-fired hot tub is the perfect place to relax. It is located on the waterfront edge by Gaularvassdraget with a beautiful panoramic view towards the mountains encircling the valley.

Comfortable beds, river sounds and cockcrows.

Experience Norwegian country life. From a farmyard perspective.
